SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - Attorney General Doug Gansler has released a plan to bring more jobs to Maryland.
Gansler, who is running in the Democratic primary for governor, made the 30-point plan public Thursday.
One of the top proposals includes helping employees save for their own education and retraining through savings accounts.
Another proposal would create a program that enables people to get temporary work that involves job training with a potential employer.
Gansler also is backing a proposal that would discount college tuition for degree programs in high-demand jobs.
Gansler estimates all of the proposals will cost about $68 million once the plan is fully implemented. He says the costs would be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes that allow corporations to avoid paying Maryland taxes.
