ATLANTA (AP) - Temperatures are headed below freezing across much of Georgia — even as far south as Americus in south Georgia — by early Thursday.

In metro Atlanta, low temperatures early Thursday are expected to be in the mid-20s, with lows around 20 in some north Georgia mountain towns.

Thursday morning’s low temperatures are expected to be around 28 degrees in Columbus; 27 in Macon; 31 in Americus; 32 in Albany; and 34 in Dublin.

The National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather advisory that a slight chance of a wintry mix is possible Wednesday in the far northeast Georgia mountains, where residual moisture combines with below-freezing temperatures.
