AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - In a story Feb. 25 about the trial of a man convicted of killing an Austin, Texas, police officer, The Associated Press erroneously referred to the officer on second reference by his sister’s last name. The officer’s name was Jaime Padron, not Jaime Diaz.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Prosecutors have rested their case against a man convicted of capital murder in the slaying of an Austin police officer.
Defense attorneys will begin presenting evidence Wednesday as they try to persuade the Travis County jury to spare Brandon Daniel a death penalty.
The last prosecution witness jurors heard from Tuesday was the sister of Officer Jaime Padron (HEYE’-may pah-DRONE’), the slain officer. Linda Diaz testified to his dedication to service, to his family and the community.
Padron was shot to death April 6, 2012, while answering a disturbance and shoplifting call at a Wal-Mart.
Daniel has acknowledged that he was under the influence of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax during the shooting.
