SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The man who was fired as police chief of Simpsonville has been put back on the job.

The Simpsonville City Council voted 4-3 Tuesday night to reinstate Keith Grounsell as chief.

Grounsell was fired last year after just a few months on the job. At the time, the council and mayor said Grounsell had not been a good fit for the post.

The council also voted to give Grounsell back pay for the time he was out of office. Officials also voted to appoint the man who replaced him as chief, Steve Moore, as Grounsell’s deputy chief.
