DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - A Muslim-American group co-founded by Detroit-area residents is launching a social media campaign that urges people not to use Arabic racial slurs against African-Americans.

The Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative is kicking off its effort on Wednesday.

It calls for an end to the use of Arabic words that sometimes are used as slurs against blacks in the way some might use the N-word.

The Detroit Free Press says (https://goo.gl/3A1Wdv ) the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative was formed earlier this year.

Its core members include a Novi attorney, an Arab-American advocate in Ann Arbor and the principal of a Muslim school in Franklin. The group has Arab-American, African-American and Bangladeshi-American members.
