LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) - A Cowlitz County Humane Society official says a Longview, Wash., teen who wanted to try being an outdoorsman has confessed to killing and skinning a family’s pet goat.

The Daily News reports (https://is.gd/rDQBpd ) that Mike Nicholson of the Humane Society says a tip led the animal welfare group and Cowlitz County sheriff’s deputies to the 17-year-old boy. He was 16 at the time the goat was killed last summer.

On Monday, the Humane Society forwarded the case to the county prosecutor for a charging decision.

Goat owner Dennis Leinweber says he’d like the opportunity to press charges and seek restitution. He says he wants the boy “to know the severity of what he’s done.”

Killed was Stratton, a friendly 6-year-old goat who would come running if called by name.
