SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) - The Oregon State Police says a 21-year-old Springfield man died Saturday after apparently jumping from an Interstate 5 overpass.

Sgt. Mike Brewster says the man might have been hit by a white Ford pickup after landing on the freeway, and investigators are asking the driver of that vehicle to contact police.

Witnesses told police the man rode his bicycle to the overpass. He then got off his bike, climbed a chain-link fence and fell 25 feet onto the right northbound lane.

State troopers based in Springfield are investigating.
