WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Officials in Winston-Salem have scheduled two gun buybacks, where owners can get up to $150 depending on the weapon they turn in.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1dbdNaZ) the first of the buybacks is scheduled for March 15 at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds. The second is slated for April 12 at First Waughtown Baptist Church.
Authorities said owners will have to make sure guns are unloaded and stored in trucks, truck beds or cargo areas before leaving home. Upon arrival, gun sellers should tell officers what kind of gun is being turned in. Officers will remove the weapon.
Sellers will get a receipt for the gun and turn that in at the next stop to collect payment. Authorities said sellers will have to give their names.
