GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Gulfport police have charged a 25-year-old man with murder in the death of another man.

Police Chief Leonard Papania tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1gQk68C ) William Cullen King Jr., of Gulfport, was arrested Thursday after police responded to a suspicious medical call about 11 a.m.

Papania said police found a man who received a head injury. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

During a follow-up investigation, Papania says detectives discovered King allegedly assaulted the victim following an argument.

King is being held at the Harrison County jail in lieu of a $1 million bond set by Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner.

The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.

It was unclear whether King has an attorney.
