MONROE, La. (AP) - Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo named Kim Golden as interim city engineer.
Mayo confirmed Golden’s appointment in an interview Thursday with The News-Star (https://tnsne.ws/1f2HURE). She is set to begin work Monday.
“She’ll be a huge addition to the city with addressing our infrastructure and other projects that require engineering needs,” Mayo said.
Golden is an attorney and a licensed engineer in Arkansas. She will serve as interim engineer until she obtains her Louisiana engineering license, which Mayo said would take a few months.
After she receives her Louisiana license, Mayo said he will submit her name to the City Council for permanent confirmation.
Golden is a former president of the Ouachita Parish Police Jury and represented District E. She was elected in 2004. She served one term and chose not to run for re-election.
Golden has worked previously with the city as the executive administration officer. She resigned from that position in July 2008.
Mayo said he wanted to bring in an engineer now so that she can get a head start on projects she will oversee later in the year.
