St. Louis announces ‘warrant forgiveness’ program

ST. LOUIS (AP) - People in St. Louis with outstanding warrants for non-violent crimes are getting a break.

KMOX Radio (https://cbsloc.al/1bOPTYg ) reports that the city is offering a “warrant forgiveness” program. Those with outstanding warrants can surrender and get a court date without being jailed.

City spokeswoman Maggie Crane says it is not an amnesty program. She says it clears the warrant but does not forgive the initial crime.

Crane says the program helps city courts by clearing some cases. It applies to traffic violations, nuisance, truancy and other non-violent offenses.
