TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A University of Arizona Police Department sergeant has been arrested after crashing a department vehicle while on duty.

The Arizona Daily Star reports (https://bit.ly/1eKCKdC) Tucson police cited and released 27-year-old Sgt. John McGrath on Saturday night for DUI and other charges.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says McGrath crashed the marked SUV into a traffic sign and then struck a cement wall on an Interstate 10 frontage road, near Speedway Boulevard.

Dugan says no one was injured.

Authorities say McGrath is accused of several offenses including super extreme DUI, having a blood alcohol content of .20 or greater and criminal damage.

A UA police spokesman says McGrath has been with the department since 2009 and returned a month ago from serving in Afghanistan with the Army Air National Guard.
