MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has joined an investigation of missing evidence from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

ATF spokesman Tom Faison tells The Herald-Mail (https://bit.ly/1fNYlnE ) of Hagerstown, Md., that the investigation is preliminary and no arrests have been made.

Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. B.F. Hall says investigators don’t believe any missing evidence is from active cases.



He declined to comment on what items are missing, saying the investigation is ongoing.
