TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona forward Brandon Ashley will miss the rest of the season with a right foot injury, leaving the top-ranked Wildcats without one of their top players.
A junior, Ashley injured his foot while going up for a rebound early in Arizona’s 60-58 loss to California on Saturday night. He spent the second half on crutches and in a walking boot, and coach Sean Miller said Sunday that he is done for the season.
Ashley averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds while starting all 22 games for Arizona (21-1), which will likely fall from the top spot in The Associated Press poll on Monday after the loss to Cal.
