ORTING, Wash. (AP) - Police say a 53-year-old man found fatally shot in the front yard of his home in the Pierce County community of Orting, Wash., may have been killed by an intruder.
The News Tribune reports (https://is.gd/nhLWnu) that the Pierce County medical examiner’s office has identified the victim as Michael Compton, who died of a shotgun wound to the head early Wednesday.
Investigators think Compton likely was shot between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. in a struggle after interrupting a burglary in his garage.
No arrests were made immediately but police spokesman James Schlotzhauer said officers were talking with persons of interest Wednesday night.
