NY doctor pleads guilty to grand larceny

NEW YORK (AP) - A Manhattan obstetrician has pleaded guilty to stealing $268,000 from Beth Israel Medical Center and to cheating on his taxes.

Dr. Lawrence Levitan pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of third-degree grand larceny.

The Daily News (https://nydn.us/1bLuC1C ) says the judge has promised him a six-month jail sentence and five years of probation.

He’ll also do 1,000 hours of community service.

Prosecutors say Levitan and the hospital were supposed to split insurance money but he kept it.

He apologized through his attorney.
