ETTRICK, Va. (AP) - A man has been arrested for carrying a gun on Virginia State University’s campus.

Virginia State tells media outlets that university police arrested the man about 10 minutes after students reported seeing him with a weapon around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The university says the man isn’t a student.

His name hasn’t been released.

The university says the campus wasn’t put on lockdown because of the brief period between the report to VSU police and the arrest.
