SEATTLE (AP) - Steady snow falling in the Washington Cascades has led to intermittent closures of several mountain passes.

The state Transportation Department announced late Tuesday night that Interstate 90 across Snoqualmie Pass has reopened after a several-hour closure due to multiple spinouts and the need for avalanche control.

U.S. Highway 2 over Stevens Pass also reopened Tuesday night.

Highway officials say snow continues to fall in the Cascade passes, where a winter storm warning is in effect until Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service expects 1 to 2 feet of new snow.
