BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Work is about to begin on a new dormitory on Lindenwood University’s campus in Belleville. It’s one sign of the growth of the small campus.

Lindenwood is a private school in St. Charles, Mo. Until not too many years ago the Belleville campus was just a satellite branch for evening classes.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1mpdHWR ) the campus now has 22 undergraduate degree programs and about 2,000 students. That’s up from five undergraduate degrees and 600 students four years ago.

A lot has changed since that year. That’s when Jerry Bladdick took over as president.

He says the school at that point didn’t have dorms, any sort of student government or a student newspaper.

Bladdick says Lindenwood has invested $23 million on campus construction.
