BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - State Transportation Department officials have lifted a no-travel advisory for U.S. Highway 85 between Watford City and Williston, but a travel alert remains in effect for northwestern North Dakota after recent snowfall.

The no-travel advisory for the stretch of U.S. 85 was issued Sunday night because of icy conditions and reduced visibilities, and lifted shortly after dawn Monday.

A travel alert means motorists can still travel but they should slow down and use caution National Weather Service reports show that as much as 4 ½ inches of snow fell in the Lansford and Bottineau areas.
