TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - State police say a man killed himself after a nearly four-hour standoff with officers at a central Indiana motel.

State police Sgt. Noel Houze says a 26-year-old Michigan man wanted on an armed robbery warrant surrendered without incident soon after officers made contact with the two men Monday morning. They were at a Red Roof Inn near the Interstate 65 and U.S. 31 interchange at the town of Taylorsville.

Houze says police were told the men were possibly in the area and a clerk identified one man’s photo as someone who checked in Sunday night at the motel about 30 miles south of Indianapolis.

Houze says police talked with the man who stayed in the room until about 8:30 a.m., when officers heard a gunshot and found him dead inside.
