LISBON, Portugal (AP) - Sporting Lisbon beat bottom-side Olhanense 1-0 at home thanks to Carlos Mane’s first-half goal on Saturday, keeping it in the hunt for the Portuguese league lead.
Mane’s solo effort in the 14th minute, dribbling by a pair of defenders, gave Sporting its second win in the last six rounds.
Pacesetter Benfica leads Sporting by two points before it visits relegation-threatened Pacos Ferreira on Sunday, when defending champion FC Porto visits Gil Vicente trailing Sporting by two points.
The loss left Olhanense three points from safety after Belenenses drew 0-0 with Academica.
