BANGOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say the roof of a southwestern Michigan bowling alley has collapsed under the weight of excessive ice and snow.

The Herald-Palladium reports (https://bit.ly/1hl3bOe ) the collapse of the pitch roof early Friday at Lariat Lanes in Van Buren County’s Bangor Township destroyed most everything inside.

Fire Chief Derek Babcock says the 58-year-old building will have to be torn down. Only the front part of the building containing the kitchen and dining areas remain.

Co-owner Dick Hensley says he’s not sure if he will rebuild the eight-lane alley, though it’s insured. He’s been salvaging what he can.

Hensley says “this winter has been so tough.”
