OBERLIN, La. (AP) - Allen Parish students won’t have to make up the days they missed this winter because of frigid weather.

Schools Superintendent Michael Doucet tells The American Press (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) that the school system builds several days each year into its calendar in expectation that schools will close because of hurricanes or other bad weather.

Officials canceled classes three days in late January because of snow and ice in some areas. Many roads were closed.

Additional emergency closings this year might force schools to make up the time, Doucet says.
