MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A committee searching for the next president of Minot State University has narrowed the number of candidates down to three.
Thirty-seven people applied to succeed retiring President David Fuller. The search committee pared the list in January and interviewed candidates throughout this month, the Minot Daily News (https://bit.ly/1hlB1m9 ) reported. The three remaining candidates met with the committee on campus this week.
The chosen semifinalists are Valley City State University President Steven Shirley; Martin Slann, dean of the college of arts and sciences at the University of Texas in Tyler; and Lorrie Clemo, provost and vice president for academic affairs at the State University of New York at Oswego.
A consultant working with the search committee told the newspaper the three candidates were praised by current and former colleagues.
The Board of Higher Education, which oversees the state’s 11 public colleges and universities, is scheduled to interview the finalists and name a president when it meets at Minot State on Feb. 27.
Fuller is retiring in June from the century-old northern North Dakota university that has about 3,500 students. He was named the school’s eighth president in 2004. The new president will take office this summer.
