RIPLEY, Miss. (AP) - A former assistant coach at Myrtle High School has been sentenced to serve four years in prison.

Adam Coleman pleaded guilty in Tippah County Circuit Court this week to two counts of sexual battery and one count of enticement of a child.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/MmRw3w ) that Coleman was sentenced to 15 years in prison with 11 years suspended.

Coleman was arrested in March 2013 after three students at the school came forward with reports of inappropriate behavior. A grand jury handed down an indictment a month later.

Coleman, an assistant coach for Myrtle Attendance Center’s baseball team for seven years, also had served as the junior high baseball coach and as a math teacher.

Coleman resigned shortly after his arrest.
