BOSTON (AP) - Another winter storm is hitting southern New England, bringing with it heavy snow, strong winds and blizzard conditions near the Massachusetts coast.

The National Weather Service says the heaviest snowfalls of 10 to 14 inches will occur in eastern Massachusetts and parts of Rhode Island, beginning Saturday afternoon. Connecticut will experience the heaviest snowfalls of 8-10 inches near the border with Rhode Island.

Meteorologist William Babcock says the storm will dump snow at the rate of up to 3 inches per hour.

The storm will spawn blizzard conditions in several spots along the eastern Massachusetts coastline, including Cape Ann, Hingham, Cape Cod and surrounding islands.

Babcock says winds of up to 70mph will blow the snow and create extremely poor visibility and chilly conditions.

Babcock says the storm will peak overnight and urged residents to stay indoors.
