PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police say a 78-year-old woman was killed and her 80-year-old husband was injured when they were hit by a vehicle as they walked across a street in southeast Portland.

KATU-TV reports (https://is.gd/Vlg2XD) that Sgt. Pete Simpson says the crash happened late Friday morning. He says the woman died at the scene. Her husband was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither was immediately identified.

Simpson says the 38-year-old driver is cooperating with investigators. Neither drugs nor alcohol is thought to be a factor in the crash.
