The vice president cancelled a scheduled speech Thursday at the Democrats’ annual retreat because of the snowstorm that shut down most of D.C., the White House said.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden was scheduled to speak Thursday afternoon at the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Cambridge, Md.

The annual conference gives House Democrats a chance to discuss their agenda and important issues for the upcoming year. Their Republican counterparts held their retreat in late January.
