ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police say they have two men in custody after a burglary that involved a stolen pickup truck turned into a carjacking.
Police spokeswoman Dani Myren says officers responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of a home burglary in progress. The burglars were reported to have fled in a pickup truck that police determined was stolen. Officers located that truck about two hours later in a hotel parking lot. Two men fled on foot and one man was taken into custody.
Myren says the second man carjacked another vehicle and drove off, at one point crashing into a police cruiser. Officers followed and found the carjacked vehicle abandoned and badly damaged. They located the second suspect and took him into custody.
Myren says the investigation continues.
