SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - If Southaven’s Snowden Grove is the shining jewel of the city’s park system, Greenbrook is its less luminous little sister. But city officials want to change that by making improvements to the softball complex on Stowewood.

The Commercial Appeal reports (https://bit.ly/1bodoHs ) aldermen recently approved getting bids for handicapped-accessible ramps at the facility.

The money to pay for the upgrade will come from the city’s 1-cent “A Penny for Your Parks” tourism tax.

Last week, when officials were asked to approve $19,000 for design plans for a cooking/grilling pavilion, a gift shop and a cash control room at Greenbrook, officials didn’t see eye to eye on spending more of the tourism tax money.

The board voted to table the matter until its Feb. 18 meeting.
