CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - A Cedar Rapids man has been given 12 years in prison for stabbing to death a friend.

Online court records say 40-year-old Stephen Johnson pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and a misdemeanor weapons charge.

Johnson originally was charged with murder in the slaying of 34-year-old Clifton West on June 25, 2013. The two got into a fight after a day of backyard grilling and drinking.
