IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa City elementary school has lifted a lockdown caused by a suspect on the loose.
Mark Twain Elementary School went on lockdown Wednesday afternoon as authorities searched for a suspect wanted by county and state officials. The Iowa City Community School District says authorities later gave permission for the students to be dismissed.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (https://icp-c.com/LVDQeU ) the students were loaded onto buses or reunited with parents picking them up.
David Dude, the district’s chief operating officer, says all the students were accounted for and they are safe. He added that officers checked the buses before students were loaded.
Authorities are still looking for the suspect.
