BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center has issued a backcountry avalanche warning for the mountains around Cooke Center.

Center officials say heavy snowfall and strong winds have created highly unstable conditions, and that natural and human triggered avalanches are likely.

Travel is avalanche terrain is not recommended and avalanche runout zones should be avoided.

The warning is in effect until 6:30 a.m. Thursday, when it will be ended or updated.
