BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - Road crews have closed a five-block stretch of street in Bay City as they work to deal with a water main break.
The Bay City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1h85GDk ) the roadway was shut about 5 a.m. Tuesday following the break at an intersection. Terry Kilburn, the city’s sewer maintenance supervisor, says it’s common that cold weather can lead to such breaks.
The temperature in Bay City was 3 degrees on Tuesday morning. The high is expected to be 12 degrees.
Several area homes are without water service because of the repair work. Crews are also repairing a second water main break in a different Bay City neighborhood.
