MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Long-time Montpelier lobbyist Michael Sirotkin has taken the oath of office to replace his late wife, Sally Fox, in the Vermont Senate.

Senate Secretary John Bloomer administered the oath to Sirotkin as the Senate started its business Tuesday morning. Gov. Peter Shumlin appointed Sirotkin to take his wife’s place.

Sirotkin thanked senators for their tributes to his wife during a session last month after her death following a long battle with cancer.

Sirotkin has resigned from his lobbying job. He was assigned to serve on the Agriculture and Institutions committees.
