ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) - A southwestern Michigan man has been sentenced to 300 days in jail for robbing migrant workers at a farm camp.
The Herald-Palladium reports (https://bit.ly/1fcbiFV ) 21-year-old Cleo Sims of Benton Harbor received the sentence Monday. It includes four years of probation. He’s also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service and pay a fine, costs and restitution totaling nearly $2,600.
Sims apologized for his actions.
Sims pleaded guilty to unarmed robbery, acknowledging that he took money and credit cards Sept. 20 from workers at a camp in Eau Claire.
Under terms of a plea agreement, the charges were reduced from two counts of armed robbery. The second charge was related to an Oct. 1 robbery at a camp in Coloma Township.
Three others were charged in connection with the robberies.
