FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A bill that has been introduced into the Kentucky Senate would prevent landlords from discriminating against tenants based on their sexual orientation.

Democratic Sen. Morgan McGarvey of Louisville is the latest to sponsor the legislation that has failed in past sessions.

McGarvey said Tuesday that this year’s bill has more co-sponsors than ever before, and he has been working with local anti-discrimination groups based in Louisville.

Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, says that he understands McGarvey’s call for acceptance regardless of sexual orientation but has not seen the legislation.

The bill has not been assigned to a committee for a hearing.
