ISHPEMING, Mich. (AP) - A public hearing is planned for March about a proposed groundwater discharge permit for the Eagle Mine in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The state Department of Environmental Quality says the meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 25 at Westwood High School in Ishpeming. The agency plans to answer questions about the draft permit at the meeting. A public hearing also is planned.

The nickel and copper mine is located in Marquette County. The DEQ will accept additional public comment through April 1.
