Music producer Dr. Luke has filed a defamation suit against celebrity attorney Mark Geragos, who suggested on social media that Dr. Luke raped Lady Gaga.
Lady Gaga revealed on Howard Stern’s radio show last week that she had a traumatic experience with an older man when she was 19, alluding to rape, the New York Post reported.
Following the interview, Mr. Geragos, who is representing pop singer Kesha in a separate rape suit against the producer, tweeted, “Guess who the rapists [sic] was?”
When a Twitter user suggested Dr. Luke, Mr. Geragos responded with “#bingo” — a tweet that has since been deleted, The Post reported.
Lady Gaga’s representative called the accusation “utterly incomprehensible.”
“This simply isn’t true and how dare someone take advantage of such a sensitive matter,” the rep said in a statement, Access Hollywood reported.
Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, filed a defamation suit against Mr. Geragos in New York on Monday, claiming he didn’t even know Lady Gaga at the time of the alleged encounter.
“Fueled by his insatiable desire for attention and malice towards [Luke], Geragos and his law firm have now made the horrific, outrageous and maliciously false assertion that [Luke] raped the world famous musical artist Lady Gaga,” the lawsuit said, The Post reported. “This time, Geragos has gone way too far with his arrogant and irresponsible conduct; he has lost all sense of ethics, propriety and decency.”
