A Chinese man suspected of creating shell companies to illegally export U.S. commercial goods that are capable of being used in nuclear production has been sent to Boston by British authorities.
Sihai Cheng was arrested in the United Kingdom earlier this year and is accused of sending U.S.-made “pressure transducers” U.S. to Iran. The specific charges against him are conspiracy, illegal exporting of U.S. goods to Iran, and smuggling, The Associated Press reported Friday.
Instruments from the Shanghai subsidiary of Andover-based MKS Instruments Inc. were allegedly sent to shell companies in China and exported to Iran, AP reported.
Mr. Cheng is scheduled to appear Monday in U.S. District Court in Boston.
