Local news meteorologist Patrick Crawford was shot multiple times Wednesday morning outside the KCEN-TV news station where he works in Waco, Texas.
Department of Public Safety spokesman D.L. Wilson said the suspect, described as a white male in his thirties, exchanged words with Mr. Crawford in the news station’s parking lot before pulling out a semi-automatic handgun and opening fire.
The morning show meteorologist, who has been with KCEN for two years, managed to drive away and flag down a construction worker, who called for help, the station reported.
He was taken to Scott and White Memorial Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery late Wednesday morning, Mr. Wilson said. Doctors reportedly told friends of Crawford that he is “very lucky” and is recovering.
Police are still searching for the suspect, the station reported.
