NEW KENT, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police have charged a driver involved in a New Kent County wreck that killed three people.

State police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar said Wednesday that 65-year-old Saul A. Gonzalez-Hernandez of North Chesterfield is charged with reckless driving.

A car driven by Gonzalez-Hernandez crashed into a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Route 155 and Kentland Trail at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Molnar says Gonzalez-Hernandez failed to yield the right-of-way. He was taken to a Richmond hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Two passengers in the car died at the scene. Molnar identified them as Gonzalez-Hernandez’s brother, 61-year-old Julio C. Gonzalez-Hernandez, and 25-year-old Javier D. Ferrer, both of North Chesterfield. Another passenger, 26-year-old Jose A. Lopez-Velasquez of North Chesterfield, died at a Richmond hospital.

The tractor-trailer driver wasn’t injured.
