PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Three tanker cars from a freight train have been removed from a northeastern Philadelphia intersection where they derailed and blocked traffic for hours.

Conrail spokesman John Enright said the derailment occurred just outside a rail yard in the Port Richmond section shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday. The tanker cars were removed and the road was reopened around 9:30 a.m.

The cause of the derailment wasn’t immediately known.

Enright said the tankers were carrying acetone. City fire crews investigated and found no leaks.

No injuries were reported.
