HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A St. Albans man has been sentenced to 46 months in prison after admitting to his role in what the government calls a large-scale marijuana distribution ring.
Richard Hughes was sentenced in Huntington on the federal marijuana conspiracy charge linked to the distribution of the drug throughout southern West Virginia. The source of the marijuana is serving a 35-year prison term.
Hughes admitted that from mid-2010 through early 2012 he received marijuana from the convicted trafficker. The government says 54-year-old Hughes forfeited $77,000 in cash, as well as vehicles and equipment through the proceeds of the sale of marijuana.
