RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - A study of sheep on Whiskey Mountain is continuing as part of a project to save their lives.

The Riverton Ranger reports (https://tinyurl.com/m7uttx7 ) experts believe pneumonia is threatening the existence of the Whiskey Mountain bighorn sheep herd.

Game and Fish biologist Greg Anderson says there was a similar outbreak in 1991, when half of the herd was lost.

Experts from Game and Fish’s veterinary lab are testing medical samples, but biologists can do little with that information now. Biologists are hoping a cure will be available at some point.
