GARNER, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a body was found Monday in a Garner home that officers had surrounded for several hours.

On Monday morning, authorities say a Wake County deputy met a realtor to change the locks at the home, which was under an eviction order.

After hearing a noise that sounded like a gunshot, the deputy called for backup. Police also notified people nearby to shelter in place until an all-clear was given at around 1 p.m.

When a SWAT team entered the home, officers found a man’s body with a single gunshot wound to the head.

The man’s identity has not been released, and investigators say his death was likely a suicide. No one else was hurt.
