BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Closing arguments are scheduled in the trial of two men charged in the death of a 96-year-old Buffalo church deacon who died months after being beaten during a break-in at his home.

The murder trial of 18-year-old Shaquar Pratcher and 23-year-old Elhajji Elshabazz began last week in state Supreme Court in Buffalo. They’re charged with fatally beating Levi Clayton during a break-in at his east side home in November 2012. Clayton died from his injuries the following April.

Two other young men who took part in the break-in have pleaded guilty to robbery charges.

Surveillance cameras mounted outside Clayton’s home caught the break-in and his attempt to repulse the intruders as they climbed through his bedroom window.

Closing arguments are expected to be made Monday morning.
