MANHASSET, N.Y. (AP) - Long Island’s Nassau County district attorney says she’s considering educating people who patronize prostitutes about the damage it causes.

According to Newsday (https://bit.ly/1fVJvhh ), DA Kathleen Rice says she’s looking into how the so-called “johns school” currently offered by the district attorney in Brooklyn works.

She says the program shows solicitation defendants that what they’re doing is not a victimless crime.

Rice made her comments Sunday at an event hosted by the Women’s Group in Manhasset.

She was invited her to speak about Nassau’s human trafficking court, which offers prostitution defendants alternatives to the sex trade.

Rice’s spokesman says she hasn’t talked to the Brooklyn DA about the “johns school” For now, he says, she is trying to learn how it’s working out there and whether it makes sense in Nassau.
