LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Gunshots outside the Lake Charles Civic Center led the weekend arrest of a 23-year-old man.

KPLC TV reports (https://bit.ly/1fWicn8 ) that two Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputies were driving near the Civic Center around 11 p.m. Saturday when they heard gun shots.

Deputies said there was a disturbance in the parking lot, which led Joshua Wright of Lake Charles to fire two shots into the air. However, witnesses claim only one shot was fired.

Commander James McGee said Wright threw the handgun in the lake and jumped in the water. McGee said Wright returned a short time later and was arrested.

No one was injured in the incident.

Wright has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, obstruction of justice and resisting an officer.
